Auditions

Four of BUMS ensembles are auditioned: Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Choir are run by the department in welcome week. Our other two, Symphonic Winds and Baroque Ensemble, are run by the student conductors and take place during the first week of term. Orchestral Auditions

This is a singular audition to be considered for Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. You can specify which (if not both) you prefer. The audition is run by a member of the department and a student. You will be asked to perform a short piece (unaccompanied) of your choice and sightread a short extract.

ORCHESTRAL AUDITIONS ARE DURING WELCOME WEEK AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE TIMETABLE BELOW.

To sign up you must write your name on the physical sign up sheet, which is posted in the Victoria Rooms at the beginning of welcome week. You must also fill out an online information sheet, which can be found here

Choral Auditions

This is a singular audition to be considered for University Singers and Chamber Choir. You can specify which (if not both) you prefer. The audition is run by a member of the department and a student. You will be asked to perform a short piece (can be accompanied) of your choice and sightread a short extract.

CHORAL AUDITIONS ARE DURING WELCOME WEEK ON THURSDAY, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY (see above). To sign up you must write your name on the physical sign up sheet, which is posted in the Victoria Rooms at the beginning of welcome week. Symphonic Wind Auditions

Symphonic Wind Auditions will be held on Sunday 15th at the Victoria Methodist Church from 1pm-6pm (across the road from the Victoria Rooms). It will consist of a short (<3min) piece of your choosing and a short sightreading extract.

Baroque Ensemble Auditions

Baroque Ensemble Auditions will be held on Thursday 19th in the Victoria Rooms Recital Room from 6pm-9pm. It will consist of a short (<3min) piece of your choosing and a short sightreading extract.
